About

The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Council-at-Large initiated the Texas Art Education Foundation (TAEF) with the intent that TAEF serve as the philanthropic arm of the Association.  The Foundation’s mission is to provide support for a variety of art education programs and to promote, invest, award grants and scholarships to further the mission of the Association and its programs (i.e. VASE, Junior VASE, TEAM, YAM, and future programs). Created in 2014, the Foundation actively serves as the charitable auxiliary to the Texas Art Education Association and incorporated into a separate 501c3 in 2016. As we grow, grant and scholarship programs of TAEA will be issued from funds generated from interest on the principal investments of the Foundation. The foundation’s primary purposes are:

  • To promote and advance the teaching of visual arts in the community, museum, elementary, secondary and higher education settings in the state of Texas
  • To support and assist teachers of visual arts in the state of Texas by awarding grants
  • To foster and reward careers in art education through the awarding of scholarships to higher education students engaged in art education programs

The Foundation is governed by a board of trustees that must be active and long-term members of the Texas Art Education Association.  The 2021-2023 Texas Art Education Foundation Board of Trustees are:

Tim Lowke, Chairman

Sara Chapman, Vice Chairman

Tina Farrell, Secretary

Jami Bevans, Treasurer

Linh Nguyen, Trustee

Elizabeth Willett, Trustee
